I'm not sure of the origin of this image, but it's been cropping up in a lot of my sketches and experiments lately. I know it was inspired by a boat trip I took along the intercoastal waterway a few years ago, and also by my 2004 visit to Acadia. This particular version began life as a "thumbnail" for a pastel drawing, but when I considered the mood I felt watercolor was the more appropriate medium. I even used hot press (smooth) paper to reinforce the feeling of serenity.
