Waterlily
Watercolor, 2002 11"x14" ~ SOLD Prints available. Heck, I've painted just about every other kind of lily, why not a waterlily! This particular one was growing at Green Springs Gardens in Alexandria, VA, one of my all-time favorite places to paint. If you'll notice it's not in my usual "dark background" style; this time I was experimenting with the "drip" method of painting. Also unusual for me, it is painted on hot press (smooth) paper, which quite literally gives it a different "feel" than most of my watercolors. Not my most successful floral, but something about this little piece really appeals to me. It frames up beautifully. | |
