It's hard for me to repeat myself. I had painted peonies in watercolor many years ago, and always planned to paint more -- but every spring they would bloom and fade, and I'd always miss the opportunity. This year I just happened to have my pastels handy during peony season, and whipped this out in a day (for me, that's fast). I guess the change of pace was all I needed. Maybe I'll try them in oils next.
